 Humphrey's Tales
September 2015

Let me introduce myself:

My name is Humphrey and I was born in 1993 in Flagstaff, Arizona USA.

Currently living in Cottonwood, AZ, with my Mom and Dad, by the way of Florida and Hawaii; don't ask!

Explained through my stories?

Maybe....

You'll just have to follow my tales each month.

PHYSICAL  THERAPY

L ast month I did my first estate sale, which required lots
of lifting of furniture and unpacking boxes.

A couple of days after the sale my bear muscles hurt, so
I decided to go for some physical therapy.

I signed up with Beverly to be on a schedule of exercises
to allow my muscles to relax.

After I signed the required papers I had my vitals checked to be sure I was healthy enough for the exercises.

Paola is really pretty and she made my blood pressure rise but she still approved me for the program.

Speaking of pretty girls, Clarissa escorted me to the therapy room.

She welcomed me with a hug and a quick energy snack.

Hugs are always good medicine and I'm looking forward to my workout.

The therapy room has all kinds of equipment such as bicycles, stairs, coordination games, and muscle building straps.

For rewards there are energy drinks and snacks.

Bring on the challenges!

There is a metal box that holds color coded pinch pins.

Each color is fitted with different tension springs requiring various levels of strength to open.

Then they are inserted onto a metal rod.

This is fun, especially if the pin doesn't stay in place and they fly across the room.

When that happens I yell "Duck!"

While waiting for my next scheduled exercise, I had time to survey the room.

I noticed this walker in the corner and I challenged Debbie, a physical therapist, to a race.

Side by side we did a count down and yelled "go."

She was gone in a flash and finished first.

Not fair!

She left my walker brake on!

Bryan is the "man."

He taught me how to increase my speed just using foot power.

Too bad there are no wheels on this equipment because if it had and he turned his back I would disappear out the door at full speed to the nearest race track!

Shaeleen had me do stretch exercises and I had to keep my legs apart for balance.

When I stretched this elastic band, as far as it would go,

I was tempted to let go and see how far it would fly.

But Shaeleen kept a close watch on me.

Walking steps improved my leg strength and running ability which I need for upcoming estate sales, or for making fast escapes after I get in trouble with Mom.

I jumped from the bed onto this ball to test my agility.

Bad idea!

I rolled to the floor and around the room.

When I stopped the room kept spinning.

In between therapy sessions there are activities offered.

I help Andy with the bingo games.

When someone yells "bingo" the other players get mad.

So I yell "bingo" even if I don't have a winner.

But I have to watch out for the cards that are then tossed at me!

I'm glad I signed up for this therapy to learn how to correctly move my body to prevent strain and injuries.

I feel great but my blood pressure still goes up whenever

I see a pretty girl!

Join me for another adventure next month!
