 Humphrey's Tales
August 2015

Let me introduce myself:

My name is Humphrey and I was born in 1993 in Flagstaff, Arizona USA.

Currently living in Cottonwood, AZ, with my Mom and Dad, by the way of Florida and Hawaii; don't ask!

Explained through my stories?

Maybe....

You'll just have to follow my tales each month.

ESTATE  SALE  PROTOCOL

Recently I started working part time for a local estate sale company which is contracted for the purpose of selling household and personal belongings because the owner is moving, eliminating some of their possessions, or have lost a loved one.

Before the sale starts there is an order of "things" to do.

Since this is my first sale, I have been assigned to the "Before and After" crew.

The "Before Crew" is responsible for unpacking and organizing all the items for sale.

My first order was to go to storage unit and pack a truck load to take to the sale.

I rode on the back of the truck to retrieve any boxes that fell off during transit.

Once we arrived at our sales destination, we had to unload and stack the boxes.

The next order of business was to unpack the boxes.

My job was to place the china dishes on the table for customers to purchase at the sale.

Just for fun I balanced some of the tea cups on my head until I was told that if I broke any of the china I would have to pay!

Gently, I reset the china and no breakage!

My next duty was to move a chest of drawers into another section of the house.

I yelled "help", but no one came.

So how was I going to win this challenge all alone?

My solution was to wrap an electrical cord through the drawer handles and then around my neck.

Next I jumped on a chair that had rollers, and hopefully, my weight would allow the chair to roll.

The idea worked.

I even surprised myself!

Feeling cool about the furniture, I offered to clean and organize the bathroom.

I arranged the towels and bath accessories. I locked the door and cleaned the bath tub and me at the same time.

Those soothing tub jet sprays were just what I needed before my next job.

I was assigned to a closet to hang up clothes for sale.

Finding the hangers was easy, but the hard part was protecting myself.

Every time I grabbed a hanger more attacked me, but I didn't go down without a fight.

I have the battle scars on my arms as a result.

Finally, the hangers and I agreed on a truce.

They let me put clothes on them and arrange neatly in the closet.

I worked in a small area, but I knew where the closet door was, just in case I had to retreat!

At noon I had a lunch break.
Relaxing and eating junk food is my favorite part of the job!

Lunch break was over too fast, but now was the time for me to create signs to put out on the road for customers to find the location of the sale.

Next job I was assigned to do was, to work in the kitchen.

I had to organize all the pots and pans, silverware and dishes.

There is a lot of work assigned to the "Before Crew."

I might buy this roasting pan because I could hide my junk food inside.

I was off work for a few days while the sale was in progress.

After the 3 day sale I returned because I was part of the "After Crew."

Now we had to pack up everything that didn't sell and divide the boxes into sections, such as "donate to charity", or "return to owner".

After the sale, everything was packed and out of the house, I had to help with the final clean-up.

My job was to vacuum the carpets.

Then I was paid for my job well done!

I received a good report and I'm on the permanent list of workers with the "Before and After Crew."

One day I hope to work my way into the "Sales and Pricing Crew" and maybe, operating the cash register too.

Also, that means a raise in my hourly rate of pay and no more battles with the hangers!

Join me for another adventure next month!
