 Humphrey's Tales
January 2015

Let me introduce myself:

My name is Humphrey and I was born in 1993 in Flagstaff, Arizona USA.

Currently living in Cottonwood, AZ, with my Mom and Dad, by the way of Florida and Hawaii; don't ask!

Explained through my stories?

Maybe....

You'll just have to follow my tales each month.

THE BELLE OF LOUISVILLE

I returned to Louisville, Kentucky to again enjoy the area and the southern hospitality that Kentucky is well-known for.

We booked a river trip on the 'Belle of Louisville'.  She is a wood, paddle wheel steamboat known as the 'Lady of the River' and she had just turned 100 years old.

We had a two hour tour on the Ohio River which included a huge brunch buffet.

With respect to 'Belle' I wore my steam punk attire.

Christina, the hostess, showed me to our table with a large window to view the scenery.

And our table was close to the food buffet!

Perfect!

I was quite impressed.

My name was on the reservation card!

The buffet was really good especially when I received two desserts

AND, I ate them both!

After lunch we listened to music and relaxed as we sang 'Cruisin' Down The River On A Sunday Afternoon.'

The music was too peaceful on the boat, so I talked to the DJ.

I made a few new selections and the new music was perfect. Everyone stood up and followed each other in a line to the outside deck!

I stayed behind to have another serving of dessert!

I finally went out on deck with Mom to view the river scenery.

Inside people were still dancing to the great choice of music I selected!

The City of Louisville is building two new bridges across the Ohio River.

We saw a lot of steel and as we went under each bridge, we could see people walking and many of them, stopping to wave to us.

I really liked seeing the bridges from underneath to see how they were built.

Maybe I could become a bridge inspector.

While cruisin' on the river I met several 'Ladies of Louisville' who are planning on meeting me after the boat tour is finished.

Maybe.

As the boat tour came to an end, I was curious about how the boat operated.

We were invited by Daniel and his co-worker to inspect the boiler room, as that is where they operate the boat.

These guys are 'steam magicians'.

The engineers even let me steer the boat and operate the gauges.

I tried to hide from Mom but all Moms seem to know just where we are!

The trip up the Ohio River and tour of the Belle was GREAT!

Happy 100th Birthday 'BELLE,'

You are a Classy Lady.

Speaking of Ladies, I guess I got cold feet because I never met them after the tour.

I'm uncomfortable being out numbered... but I try to be cool anyway!

Hear the Calliope!

As we were heading to board the Belle of Louisville,

we heard the music playing!

Join me for another adventure next month!
