Dawn is a Bears&Buds Professional Member Artists.

"I have done the trek 3 times 2009, 2011, 2012 and the pictures shown are from our 2012 Bear Trek in Romania when we hiked 50 miles across the mountains then a visited the rescued bears," said Dawn. "And we are going again September 2015. We are so excited!"

Chris and Dawn received certificates honoring their trek and funding that helps the bears.

The trek takes 5 days and starts in Sinaia, Transylvania and is pretty much a round trip. We stay in accommodation along the way. If you'd like to go, here are the trip details. read..

"In September Chris and I will again be trekking 50 miles over the Carpathian Mountain range in Romania to raise funds for a Bear Sanctuary.

The sanctuary houses more than 70 bears in an oak and hazel forest above the Transylvanian town of Zarnesti.

Here, the bears climb trees, swim in the pools and forage on the vegetation naturally.

These bears have been rescued from illegal zoos or from being used as 'entertainment' by being chained outside restaurants etc.

I think they want to keep the visitors low so the attention is always on the bears. I know they are keen for school trips so that children grow up with a compassionate heart for bears.   It is a truly magical place."
