Good Bears of The World

Brown bears are given to those in need of a hug. You can purchase bears to love and to give too.

Look for exhibit tables at leading teddy bear shows where you can purchase GBW bears.

Introducing 'Ruby' the newest bear to the Good Bears of the World collection.

Ruby, red bear, first made her appearance at the gifting in Chelsea, MI on November 15, 2008

Ruby was placed on the Christmas tree near the entrance of the Chelsea toy museum.

"She making an impression!" said Chairbear Terrie Stong.

Walter was introduced January 2011 at Idex in Florida.

He visited several historical places of interest there and did lots of fun things with the people who have carried him from place to place.

Walter left Florida on his way west, stopping at the Phoenix show, took a cruise, toured California then back east to the Pennsylvania show where he was reunited with his "mother", Bev White.

Walter traveled to Japan too and made several appearances before being auctioned off at the 2013 IDEX Show in Florida on April 13.

He now will be living in Arizona with his new family.

"Thanks to all for helping us share Walter's adventures and for the online bidding and live bidding at IDEX" said Terrie Stong.

'Walter' raises $1,725 for Good Bears of the World Walter
Good Bears of the World's (GBW's) fourth traveling teddy bear, "Walter," was won at auction by a $1,725 proxy bid from the floor at the IDEX show in Orlando, Fla., in April. "Walter" is a one of a kind created by award-winning artist Beverly White, and had been introduced at the previous IDEX show in January 2012.

"Walter" spent most of his time since then traveling around the country, and even took in the Japan Teddy Bear Show in Tokyo, gathering souvenirs at each stop and promoting GBW's mission to get teddy bears into the arms of people in need of a hug. Collectors who weren't able to get to IDEX this year were still able to bid for "Walter" online, thanks to a bidding page set up by Valerie Rogers of Bears & Buds. "The Internet bidding link brought hundreds of hits in the last two weeks," White said. "Rogers did a yeoman job in creating the site, plus repeatedly tweaking it and making final-week updates."

A Birthday surprise was given at the St. Louis Teddy Bear Show on March 27, 2011. All the teddy bear artists wished her a very happy 'month' as Valerie Rogers helped her with the 'Birthday Girl Walk' around the showroom.

Waldorf, a Good Bears of the World supporter big bear, danced and charmed everyone at the Schaumburg Teddy Bear Show.  His two 'girl friends' (Sandy Humanski and Terry Stong) enjoyed the big hug.

Over 500 bears were delivered to Texas Children's Hospital on May 20, 2009. This year 2,000 bears were given, providing many hugs to brighten someone’s day.

An activity group of Kingwood Hi Neighbor was founded in 1990. It became a den of Good Bears of the World International, a charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to providing teddy bears to children of all ages who are hurt, sick, lonely or just need something to hug.

Kingwood Heartbeat Bears provides 500 bears to Kingwood Medical Center, Memorial Northeast Medical Center and Texas Children’s Hospital. Bears are also provided to The Blue Star Moms, The Humble Nursing Home and Westminster House of Kingwood. This year 2,000 bears were given, providing many hugs to brighten someone’s day.

The only source of income is from private donations and from various fund raising projects.

Celia and Norman Roberts donate 'orphan' teddy bears to GBW that they have rescued from auctions and estate sales.

Valerie, the publisher of Bears&Buds, appeared on the Summer 2010 cover with Eric and Neroli, lucky recipients of a GBW Bear. Full Story. "I'm honored to be a cover girl and to be a part of GBW's effort to gift teddy bears!"

Good Bears of the World (GBW) is a non profit 501(c)3 organization which provides teddy bears to children and adults, where love, solace, and comfort can make a difference. We give out teddies to victims of floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other trauma situations in the United States and abroad.

GBW was founded in England in 1969 by the late journalist and radio pioneer, James Theodore Ownby. Headquarters were located in Mr. Ownby’s radio station, KNDI, in Honolulu, Hawaii until 1991 when they were relocated to Toledo, Ohio.

The purpose of GBW is to spread love and caring to children and the elderly. GBW was the first group to donate teddy bears to police departments in the early 80’s. This program has gained tremendous popularity in the last few decades.

Please help us to provide cuddly teddy bears by sending your donation to:
