Michelle Lamb, teddy bear artists, was in Schaumburg, Ilinois to exhibit and teach bear making at ABC's Oct-o-Bear show.
Her "Making Head Way" classes fill very quickly and I was lucky enough to have enrolled
last spring.
Another class was added as the demand is high for the
places in the award-winning artist's bearh making classes!
Michelle Lamb at 8 in the morning! Bright eyed! |
Michelle demonstrates how to graduate the edges of a muzzle by trimming with
the angle of the scissors. Sculpting will affect how graduated and smooth the fur looks for a more natural look. She showed a neat trick with a Bic shaver for the finishing touch. Takes a bit of nerve to first try it!
Bear artists enjoy learing tips and techniques from this award winner' Michelle. |

Collectors Karen, Sonya and Toby are in awe of the changes a simple fur clipping can make!
|
Ginger, and Linda watched intently how Michelle was placing the eyes in the bear's head. |
|
|
Charlene, Pattie Angel, Michelle McKune and Lynn Hicks practice creating clipped 'eye channels' in the muzzle fur, so the bear's heart shines right out of its eyes! |
Michelle has a unique style and method to the way she needle sculpts her bear faces, with a continuous length of thread, eliminating new knotting wherever possible.
The best part, to me, was the way she creates an asterisk and continued stuffing to tighten the muzzle and nose area for a great smoothly stitched nose. |
Sometimes it's easier if the Teacher draws us a picture! |
